Is this a full wipe?

Optional reset

No. Since the 1.0 release, your permanent PMC, stash and hideout are never wiped. Each season is an opt-in seasonal character that starts from zero in its own economy; players who want the wipe experience join it, everyone else keeps playing their main profile. How Escape from Tarkov wipes work

How Escape from Tarkov wipes work

Escape from Tarkov is a hardcore extraction shooter by Battlestate Games. Players raid the fictional city of Tarkov for loot, fight AI scavs and other players, and must extract alive to keep what they find. The game reached its 1.0 release on November 15, 2025.

Before 1.0, Tarkov wiped all PvP progress for everyone roughly twice a year. The last full PvP wipe came with the 1.0 release on November 15, 2025. Since then, Battlestate Games has used opt-in seasons: each season runs on separate servers with an independent seasonal character that starts from zero — new PMC, empty stash, level 1 traders, unbuilt hideout and a fresh economy — plus seasonal modifiers and tasks. Your permanent PvP and PvE characters are not affected, while seasonal rewards you unlock become permanently available across PvP Zone, PvE Zone and PvP Season. Battlestate says seasonal character progression resets every four to six months when a major update starts a new season. Season 1, Kord Breach, launched on August 3, 2026.

What gets reset

  • Your seasonal character only: level, stash and hideout
  • Seasonal trader levels and seasonal tasks
  • The seasonal economy and flea market

What you keep

  • Your permanent PMC, stash, hideout and Kappa progress
  • Rewards earned during a season (kept on your account)
  • PvE progress (PvE uses Prestige instead of seasons)
  • Game edition benefits and account

How to prepare for the next wipe

  • Follow Battlestate's official channels and roadmap near the end of the four-to-six-month season window.
  • Finish seasonal milestones and task chains before the reset to permanently unlock their rewards.
  • Plan your early quest route: the first trader levels give the biggest head start.

Escape from Tarkov wipe FAQ

01When is the next Tarkov wipe?

Since 1.0, Tarkov uses opt-in seasons instead of full wipes. Season 2 is pencilled in for December 2026 alongside patch 1.4.0.0 on Battlestate's roadmap, but no exact date has been announced yet.

02Does Tarkov still wipe after 1.0?

No, not for everyone. Seasons are optional: you can create a seasonal character that starts from zero, while your permanent PMC, stash and hideout are kept. PvE progress is persistent.

03Do I have to join the Tarkov season?

No. Seasons run in their own queue. If you don't join, you keep playing your permanent PMC as usual.

04When was the last full Tarkov wipe?

The last full wipe happened with the 1.0 release on November 15, 2025.

05Why is the Steam player count lower than expected?

Escape from Tarkov is also sold through Battlestate's own launcher, where most players play. The Steam count only shows players who use the Steam version.
